Apalis Arm Family
Apalis is a scalable System on Module (SoM) / Computer on Module (CoM) family that aims to provide high performance in a compact form factor. Apalis enables the development of advanced and robust products within a short time and with low risks. Apalis modules scale to the highest performance in the Toradex product range, and they provide the most interfaces of any product line on the 314-pin MXM connectors. Apalis modules are suited to a larger number of applications in such fields as healthcare, industrial automation, robotics, smart cities and many more. Apalis modules are supported by Toradex software offerings and the company’s rich ecosystem of other products and services.

Software
Torizon is a ready-to-use Linux-based software platform ideal for use in areas like industry and medicine, where reliability is critical. It is a developer-friendly ecosystem that simplifies the process of developing and maintaining embedded software.
Toradex develops and maintains a Yocto Project-compatible, production-quality embedded Linux BSP in-house.
Windows Embedded Compact, formerly known as Windows CE (WinCE), is a real-time, small-footprint operating system. This OS is ideal for building embedded products targeting a variety of industrial applications.
Android is an operating system based on the Linux kernel. It offers a low-cost, flexible and customizable OS for developing high-tech devices.
QNX is a microkernel-based real-time operating system primarily targeting embedded systems that require high safety and security.
Toradex provides direct support for FreeRTOS on Apalis iMX8 and Apalis iMX8X. FreeRTOS is a real-time OS that runs on the Cortex-M4 cores in parallel to the main OS.
Apalis Computer on Modules - Comparison Table
The power consumption is subject to variation, depending on the situation. Our estimation of the minimum and maximum power consumption is based on the lowest idle power consumption and the highest power consumption values during maximum load. Refer our developer article for more information.
Due to limited availability and longer lead times, please consider the Y-Version of the module if you do not need the resistive touch and ADC-functionality of the module. For additional information visit our developer page.
General: Some interfaces are available on pins that are not entirely compatible within the Apalis Computer on Module family. There are restrictions to using different interfaces simultaneously, please check the respective datasheet for exact details.
Apalis Carrier Boards
The Ixora Carrier Board is a fully featured carrier board for the Apalis module family. Along with the standard interfaces, Ixora comes with a combination of widely used Industrial interfaces like CAN 2.0b, I2C, and GPIOs which make it perfectly suitable for Industrial and embedded solutions. It also features mSATA, Mini PCIe and Micro SD slots, which lend the board its high flexibility and scalability. The Ixora is designed to be used as either SW development board or for small to medium volumes products.
The Apalis Evaluation Board is designed to be a flexible development environment to explore and evaluate the functionality and performance of the Apalis product family. All interfaces on the Apalis can be easily accessed, through a combination of real world connectors and easily accessible, standard pitch headers. The breakout area allows easy probing of a large number of Apalis interfaces and easy access to break and jumper signals as needed.
